Chairman’s Update – December 2017

Christmas in Cookhill

Christmas is almost upon us and the weather has decided to give us a nice, seasonal dusting of snow to get us in the holiday spirit.

Cookhill Gritter

You will have noticed that the Parish Council gritter has been out on the village over the past few days, helping to make the roads safer for parishioners. It would be very helpful if residents could keep their vehicles off the road during bad weather so that the gritter can make its rounds safely.

Please be aware that the gritting carried out by the Parish Council is done so by volunteer Councillors. Although we do our best to make the roads as safe as possible for road users we still ask that drivers take every due care and attention when driving around the village.

If you have any concerns about grit bins that need to be refilled or a particular road that urgently needs the gritter, please don’t hesitate to contact the clerk on 07584 687 283

New vehicle activated sign on Edgioake Lane

After years of campaigning the Parish Council have finally been given permission from the Highways department to install a new VAS (vehicle activated sign) on Edgioake Lane. The Parish Council hope that the installation of this new traffic calming measure will help to slow traffic down as it enters and leaves the village.

You may have noticed that the Parish Council have replaced the old, damaged noticeboard outside SE Davis and have also installed a brand new one outside the new houses at Ridgeway Meadows. A new waste bin has also been installed here and is already in use.

Computer Club

The Parish Computer Club and Internet Cafe has been very well attended this year. The club, run by the clerk, is held on a Wednesday morning from 10 till 12 in the Cookhill Village Hall rear meeting room.

The Club is not just for people who would like a little extra assistance when using their laptops and tablets but is fast becoming a social setting to meet like-minded local people and enjoy a biscuit and hot drink in a friendly atmosphere.

If you would like more information about the club you can call in to the Village Hall on a Wednesday morning to meet everyone or you can call the clerk on 07584 687 283.

The sessions start again on Wednesday 3rd December at 10am.

Seasons Greetings

Finally, I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year on behalf of Cookhill Parish Council.

Councillor Bob Pinfield – Chairman to the Parish Council.
